I heard this quote yesterday and thought of it after I read a FB quote decrying Trump's dictator-like idea of a military parade. Happened to glance at the comments and was so disheartened. One woman said that was why she never listens to the new anymore. The other one said she pays no attention because there is nothing she can do about it anyway.

Friends, this is exactly the attitude Trump wants from us. Of course there is something you can do. You can send letters, you can speak out where appropriate, you can protest, you can VOTE. But you have to extend yourself a little and not just hide in a world of pretense. You must fulfill your RESPONSIBILITY as a citizen if you care about this country and want this democracy to survive.
